SEMOCAP
RIAM project2004/01-2006/01
The main objective of this project is to develop a human motion capture system based on computer vision techniques. To date, prototype and commercially available motion capture systems use body markers and/or various wearable devices. Our approach within this project will be to consider a complete human body model that is suited both for realistic animation and for recovering its articulated motion. For that purpose we devised a body model based on bio-mechanics and which encapsulates geometric primitives whose motion is recoverable from images.
The work to be carried out within this project will be based on the foundational theories and methods that we plan to investigate and which are described in detail in section Motion representation and estimation.
Within SEMOCAP we have an academic collaboration with the "Laboratoire de Physiologie et de Biomécanique de l’Exercice Musculaire" from the Université de Rennes 2 (Franck Multon and Armel Crétual) and an industrial collaboration with two companies located in Rennes: Artefacto SA and Asica SA.
