Liana studied painting in Romania with Riza Propst-Kreid and Rudolph
Schweitzer-Cumpana.
She emmigrated to Israel in 1964, learned hebrew in the "Ulpan" for
new young emigrants in Kibutz Mishmar Haemek and after this established
with her parents in Pardes Katz, near Tel-Aviv.
She worked as a bank clerk for Bank Leumi, till 1990, when she retired
to dedicate herself only to painting.
She studied advanced painting at the “Avni” Art School
in Tel-Aviv (1963).
In 1973 Liana married Mirel Horodniceanu and moved to Haifa. Together
they changed the family name to Horodi, but as a painter she continued
to
sign Saxone. They have two sons: Shmuel, born in 1974 and Miron, born
in 1977.
LianaParticipated at the Painting Workshop of Yehuda Yatsiv in Haifa
(1990-1995).
- Member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association, since 1992
- She received several prizes:
- Cultural Found “Sarah and Haim Ianculovici” Award for year
2001.
- Creation Found “Nicu Palty” Award for year 2003.
- "Herman Struck" Prize of Haifa Municipality for year 2004
- In 2004 she published the Memories of her father advocate Valentin
Saxone, who was a well known democrat and therefore was political imprisoned
in Romania for 4 years (1959 -1963) during the communist regime.
Techniques: mainly oil on canvas; aquarelle, painting and pyrography
on wood
Motifs: landscapes, portraits, dolls, still life, judaics and decorative
art.
